King Richard was honored at the 2022 Academy Awards thanks to the brilliant interpretation of Will Smith as the father of sisters Venus and Serena Williams. The American actor won the Oscar for Best Leading Actor by beating Javier Bardem (About the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick… Boom!) And Denzel Washington (Macbeth).
Will Smith said: “Richard Williams was an ardent defender of his family. In my life I have been called to love and protect people. I want to be an ambassador of this kind of love and care. Art imitates life and I myself.
