AUGUSTA, Ga. — There’s 18 holes remaining at the 2022 Masters, and it looks like the contest for the green jacket will be a two-man race between Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Smith. The No. 1 golfer in the world, Scheffler holds a three stroke advantage on Smith as Augusta National prepares to crown a first-time Masters champion.
Round 4 gets underway Sunday morning with only seven golfers under par for the tournament. None except Smith was better than 1 under on Saturday as chilly temperatures and swirling winds encircled Augusta National. It should be warmer and calmer on Sunday, providing an opportunity for anything to happen before that green jacket is awarded in the early evening.
Anticipation reached a fever pitch ahead of the Masters as Tiger Woods decided to play competitive golf for the first time in 17 months. He made the most of that decision at first, posting a 1-under 71 with a few birdies and a handful of par saves in a performance that was as vintage Tiger as one could hope to see given his extended layoff. In fact, it was quite a remarkable feat given the obstacles Woods has faced over the last year-plus. However, Woods faltered in Round 2 and imploded in Round 3 with a 6-over 78, the worst round of his career at Augusta National. Still, you can watch Woods in a Featured Group for the fourth straight day and follow every shot he takes coming home.
