Carlos Alcaraz’s 2022 has been fantastic so far. The young eighteen year old continues to grind records and despite his young age he is now one of the most interesting tennis players on the circuit; this season Carlos won the tournaments in Miami and recently in Barcelona and entered the world Top Ten a few days ago.

In a few days Alcaraz will turn 19 and is now one of the most feared players on the circuit. The young Iberian talent attended a performance in Greece this morning and is preparing himself for the next tournaments. Juan Carlos Ferrero’s pupil climbed the rankings prematurely compared to forecasts, he himself spoke of Top 15 as a goal at the end of the year and instead his current ninth position seems only a springboard towards even better results.

What is surprising is that thinking of the Big Three, the three strongest athletes of the last twenty years and probably of history, only his idol Nadal has done better than Carlos while Alcaraz has achieved much better results than the current number one in the world Novak.

Djokovic and Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer. Months ago we were all amazed by the growth of Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner (who is achieving excellent results so far) but Carlos is doing even better and entered the Top Ten before turning 19.

World number two Daniil Medvedev has a quite particular history. He is now a Grand Slam champion and he was number one, but at the age of 19 he was number 656 in the world and he was a long way from the tennis that he counts.

Roger Federer has always been recognized as a player who has helped promote the sport in the right manner. “He approached me and said, ‘We switch for fifteen minutes and then we play, but only one set.’

I beat him 7: 5 and of course he wanted a rematch, he routinely beat me 6: 3 in the second. We laughed well when he recognized my coach Blaž Trupej. I remember you, ha-ha. They played against each other in Domžale in 1999, Federer wanted to continue the next day because of the darkness, but Trupej said he couldn’t because he had a tennis lesson in the morning,” Kavcic said.

Roger Federer has often called Dubai his second home and practices there during the off-season. “They make an identical surface there as in Melbourne Park, just for him. They even asked him what the temperature and humidity were at the Hisense Arena that year when we were training. He is an icon wherever he goes,” Kavcic added.
