Celebrity Cruises announced that Simone Biles, a 19-time world gymnastics champion and seven-time Olympic medalist, will add another very special title to her decorated career as godmother of Celebrity Beyond. The American will name the ship at the official ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, on November 4, 2022.
For its Edge Series units, Celebrity is selecting similarly transformative and courageous godmothers who are breaking down barriers and championing change in their respective fields. Biles joins Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai and Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and Marshall Plan for Moms, who serve as godmothers of sister ships Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex, respectively.
“Simone truly is the best in and out of the gym, and I am honored and excited to welcome her as Godmother of our new ship Celebrity Beyond,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.
“I have so many fond memories of cruising with my parents growing up, so I am beyond excited to serve as godmother for Celebrity Beyond,” said Biles.
