When Carrie Underwood auditioned for American Idol back in 2005, she was a 21-year-old farm girl from Checotah, Oklahoma, who was following her dreams. She later went on to win the competition, defeating runner-up, Bo Bice. Now, Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest names in country music, and fans want to know what AI’s country superstar is up to in 2022.
Since competing on American Idol, Carrie has released many albums, and has even made some TV appearances. Her debut single, “Inside Your Heaven,” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and she became the third artist to debut in the top slot following a chart policy change in 1998. She also made Billboard chart history by being the first country music artist to ever debut at number one on the Hot 100. Since competing on AI, Carrie has released nine albums. Her most recent record is Denim and Rhinestones, which was released on June 10 of this year.
After competing on (and winning) American Idol, Carrie wanted to try her hand at acting. She made her acting debut on a season five episode of How I Met Your Mother, where she played Tiffany, someone that the main character Ted formed a relationship with. Carrie only appeared on one episode of HIMYM, but she did continue acting. Her last acting role was playing herself in a 2021 episode of the Netflix Series, Cobra Kai.
Even though she has become one of the most popular country music stars, Carrie has never forgotten where she got her start. She has made several appearances on American Idol since her win. Some were as a guest performer, and others were as an American Idol mentor for the contestants. She has returned to the series a total of three times, and her latest appearance was as a mentor for the top five on American Idol 2022.
Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest AI stars, and it doesn’t seem like she will be stopping anytime soon. She is currently embarking on her Denim and Rhinestones Tour, which is slated to end in Seattle on March 17, 2023.
