Tiger Woods has been away from professional golf since his devastating car accident. He did make a comeback at the PNC Championship, but ever since, has not played a single event. Fans can’t help but speculate whether Tiger would return to the game at the Masters, given the major championship winner has various sweet memories of the event.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner is a five-time winner at Augusta National. His recent green jacket came in 2019. He won the 2019 Masters with an overall score of 13-under-par, as a result, won with a one-shot lead and finally carded a round of 70, two-under-par on his route to victory.
A source revealed to People Magazine, “He’s aiming for the 2023 Masters Tournament. And he has a new goal: to be the oldest winner at the Masters. Jack Nicklaus won when he was 46”. Jack Nicklaus shot 30 on the back nine for a final round 65 in the 1986 Masters to become the oldest champion at 46.
Tiger will be 47 next year when he competes, and that’s the newest record he is going for. “He’ll stop at nothing to accomplish it,” says the source. The source added, “Tiger was known for his focus before, but now he’s learned to focus through terrible pain.
And now that the pain has mostly faded, that focus is still there. He’s going to be a force when he returns to the game. He’s going to dominate”. Woods remains listed as among the current invitees to appear in the 86th edition of The Masters.
Six-time major winner Phil Mickelson is still among the past champions not set to play. It will be the first time the golf great will miss The Masters since 1994. One thing is for sure, if Tiger does return to Augusta, the Masters 2023 will be the one to watch . . .
