The 23-time Grand Slam winner retired last year but the fashion icon once sent heads turning by wearing an outlandish outfit during her Australian Open second round match
Tennis star Serena Williams turned heads when she played in her Australian Open match wearing a ‘one-legged catsuit’.

Alongside her incredible tennis career, Williams is an icon in the fashion industry and has invested in a number of companies that value diversity. During her Australian Open second round match against German Laura Siegemund two years ago, the American star combined her two loves by wearing a unique outfit.

She donned a Nike designed brightly-coloured one-legged catsuit at the Rod Laver Arena and dispatched of Siegemund 6-1,6-1 in less than an hour. Williams was bidding for her 24th Grand Slam crown but was eventually beaten by eventual winner Naomi Osaka at the semi-final stage.

The outfit would have been perfect for the hot conditions players battled against at this year’s Australian Open. The then 39-year-old Williams said her outfit was so breathable that she had to check that she was wearing underwear.

She said: “So it’s light. It’s actually, if you look up close, it’s actually breathable and it’s perforated. It’s actually super light and to a point where I need to make sure I’m wearing underwear. Nude colour, though.”

Tennis star Williams turned-fashion designer was known for pushing the boundaries when it came to her outfits on the court. She had asked Nike to create something ‘Serena-like’ ahead of the tournament and the fashion brand came back with the one-legged outfit.

She added: “I just felt like the design that we had before wasn’t as Serena-esque, and so the Nike team went back and created something very Serena-like and didn’t have time to put it in retail.”

Legendary American tennis star Serena Williams will be a major missing in this year’s Australian Open. Over the years, Serena played some amazing tennis and has a great record in Australia. The 41-year-old recently retired after 27 years of tennis.
Now that the Australian Open is all set to begin, fans recalled one of the best victories of Serena in the Australian Open. Here’s what happened.

Fans get nostalgic as Serena Williams’ 2007 Australian Open winning clip resurfaces
In her long and illustrious career, the queen of the court won many great matches.
However, her iconic celebration after winning the 2007 Australian Open is something fans can’t forget. Serena Williams has a near-perfect record against Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.

While the excitement of the final was there, the Russian was no match for Serena as she easily defeated Sharapova in straight sets to clinch her third Australian Open title. It also was Serena’s eighth Grand Slam title. Serena ranked world number 81 before the tournament and entered the tournament unseeded. It also makes Serena’s victory even more special.

The match point of that match recently resurfaced on Twitter and fans can’t stop talking about it. Here’s how they reacted.

Serena has some amazing memories at the Australian Open. Interestingly, Serena’s last Grand Slam title also came at the Australian Open.

When Serena won a Grand Slam eight weeks pregnant
If we single out one Women’s tennis star for grit and dedication, it has to be Serena Williams. The former world number one got to know about her pregnancy after landing in Australia for the first Grand Slam of the year. However, instead of pulling out the legend chose to stay and play in the tournament.

While Serena winning the tournament itself was a huge achievement, she did it without dropping a set. It not only is an incredible feat but also a huge inspiration for the girls who look up to her. Recently, Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian also termed this victory as proof for Serena’s GOAT claim.

Although Serena could not go past Margaret Court’s record of 24 Majors, many consider her the Greatest of all time. What’s your opinion on this? Let us know in the comments section.

Serena Williams continues to delight her fans even after stepping away from the game, which she dominated for close to two decades.

Williams, who authored a children’s picture book called The Adventures of Qai Qai, recently appeared in the movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Her short cameo was enough to thrill the audience.
Caroline Wozniacki shared a clip from the film on social media with a caption that underlined her lasting friendship with the American tennis star.

“Ohh hello bestie, @Serena Williams”

The scene featuring Serena Williams from the film, which starred Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, and Janelle Monáe has captured the imagination of fans around the world.

Following a theatrical release in November, the movie was made available on the Netflix platform during Christmas.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who plays herself in the movie, is shown to have an interaction with James Bond star Daniel Craig in the film. The movie is notably a sequel to the 2019 movie Knives Out.

Caroline Wozniacki, who has partnered Serena Williams on the court, has also been spotted with the tennis legend off it.

The duo reached the finals of the ASB Classic in 2020 while playing alongside each other for the first time ever. They went down to Taylor Townsend and Asia Muhammed in the summit clash.

Wozniacki, who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis after winning the 2018 Australian Open, retired from professional tennis at Melbourne Park in 2020.

Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki have played each other a total of 11 times, with the American emerging triumphant on a whopping 10 occasions.

The two first met as part of a quarterfinal in Sydney back in 2009 with Williams prevailing in a three-setter. The second meeting between the two players in a Tour Championship semifinal the same year did not last long. This was because Wozniacki had to retire midway through the second set.

“Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams, a fantastic friendship, but there was never history on the pitch. Almost. On #27 March 2012, Caroline Garcia wins for the first and last time against Serena, in the quarterfinals in Miami in two sets. At the end of her career the balance is 10 to 1 for Serena”

The Dane lost to her more fancied opponent in the semifinals of the 2011 US Open before stunning Williams in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open in 2012.

The 6-4, 6-4 victory remains Wozniacki’s only triumph against her friend and rival. The final tour meeting between the two took place during the semifinals of the 2014 WTA Finals, where Williams won a three-setter.

Serena Williams has kept incredibly busy since leaving competitive tennis, but that doesn’t mean she’s not taking time for self-care. In a recent Instagram post, that meant getting some muscle treatment — with her daughter, Olympia Ohanian, tucked under her arm, of course. “Whenever I get treatment @olympiaohanian wants to be there too. So cute,” Williams captioned the photo, in which both mom and daughter look about ready to doze off. (Nothing like a nice nap on the massage table, tbh.)

The tennis star recently opened up about how difficult it’s been to relax since leaving tennis. “I’m currently allowing myself to be tired. Allowing myself To relax. Allowing myself to just be,” Williams wrote in a recent tweet. “It’s harder than I ever imagined. I’ve never allowed myself to do any of that before…”

Williams, who played her final pro tennis tournament last September, cited her desire to focus on her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, and focus on growing her family with husband Alexis Ohanian as her reasons for leaving the sport. But she’s been open up about the challenges of “evolving” away from tennis, as Williams describes it, rather than retirement.

“There is no happiness in this topic for me,” Williams wrote in an emotional Vogue essay last year announcing her decision. “I know it’s not the usual thing to say, but I feel a great deal of pain. It’s the hardest thing that I could ever imagine. I hate it. I hate that I have to be at this crossroads. I keep saying to myself, I wish it could be easy for me, but it’s not. I’m torn: I don’t want it to be over, but at the same time I’m ready for what’s next.”

Along with her work with Serena Ventures, Williams has published a book, launched her Will Perform lifestyle brand, and thrown Olympia a surprise “Moana”-themed party since retiring, so she’s clearly not slowing down too much. The 23-time Grand Slam winner has even teased a return to tennis, reminding fans, “I’m not retired,” at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco in Oct. 2021. Williams adding that “the chances are very high” that we could see her play again.

Whatever Williams chooses to do in this next chapter of her life, she’s bound to succeed. But still, life transitions can be challenging for anyone — even an undisputed GOAT. So it’s nice to watch Williams find moments of joy and self-care through it all (especially when it involves cuddle time with Olympia). She’s earned all of the relaxation and then some.

Whether you were sick with the flu or paying the price after a night of a few too many cocktails, you probably know what it feels like to be dehydrated: that dry mouth feeling that can come with a headache, dizziness, increased heart rate and make you feel downright awful.

In a December 20 TikTok video, tennis star Serena Williams shared the go-to DIY remedy she uses when she wakes up feeling parched.

“I woke up this morning a little dehydrated, so what do I do?” she asks at the beginning of the video. Serena is then seen filling a water bottle with ice and lemon lime Gatorade, which she tells viewers she plans to sip throughout the day.

“Not an ad. This is legit what I do. When I’m feeling a little dehydrated, I just chug Gatorade. I don’t chug this much, just half throughout the day, just to kind of bring some life into my lips. They are dry,” Williams continues.

There were those who took Serena’s suggestion as gospel, like @Sabrinathegreat, who commented, “If Serena drinks lemon lime Gatorade…I must drink lemon lime Gatorade.”

But let’s face it, Gatorade ain’t nothing new. Athletes representing nearly every sport, including Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter and Serena Williams have endorsed the sports drink. That’s why most people who watched Williams’ video were less focused on the actual remedy and more focused on the rather unconventional way she got her Gatorade bottles out of the plastic rings holding the pack together during her demonstration. Because if you’ve ever found yourself struggling to free a bottle from a six pack, you already know the struggle is real.

Leave it to a tennis champion/wife/mom/mega mogul to show us that ripping the plastic rings apart, rather than trying to wrestle the bottle out of the rings, can save us a lot of time and a whole lot of frustration. And the commenters were

Like @lauren, who commented, “No way, Serena Williams just taught me how to take a Gatorade off the plastic.” And @Caden K, who cosigned, “I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who caught this. I’m like…. So you don’t just rip it out?!” And @D Gnzls, who admits, “Been doing it wrong my whole life!!! 😡 lol.”

Thank you, Serena Williams for being the gift that keeps on giving.

Longtime coach to tennis phenomenon Serena Williams disclosed he isn’t expecting her to make a “serious comeback” to the sport.

Patrick Mouratoglou told Eurosport in an interview that while he would love to see her compete at “her best level,” he doesn’t see her peaking much further unless she gives it her “absolute all.”

“Do I want to see her play? I want to see her play again,” Mouratoglou said. He further indicated that “playing at her best is something that every tennis fan really wants to see.”

Mouratoglou, who joined Williams’ team in 2012 is now setting his hopes on Holger Rune, who he currently works with and who recently graduated from his Academy.

“I think to be exceptional at something, and God knows she’s been exceptional, you have to be a little bit obsessive about it,” he said, adding that “you have to be 100% focused on the activity, otherwise even for tennis geniuses, it’s complicated.”

He continued: “Williams will be kept far too busy away from the court to ever seriously contemplate a proper return.”

The 52-year-old coach said that since giving birth to her daughter, he feels that the last leg of her career may soon be forgotten.

“I think if she’s happy at the end of her career, that’s all that matters because nobody will remember the end of her career. You remember it now because it’s fresh, but everyone will remember what a champion she was, all the Grand Slams she won, the things she brought to tennis and how she made history. The end of her career is an anecdote.”

Williams’ clinched the top spot of the 2017 Grand Slam while pregnant with her first-born named Alexis. That same year, she beat her sister Venus in the Major final for the Austrialain Open. At the time, it was her eighth in ten meetings on the Grand Slam stage.

She returned to to the championship match in 2018 and 2019 during both editions of the Wimbledon and US Open but lost in both matches.

Williams won her last Grand Slam in 2017 while pregnant with her daughter.

She would play four more Grand Slam finals though, coming back to the sport only to lose the championship matches at 2018 and 2019 editions of both Wimbledon and the US Open.

Her 2017 Australian Open triumph came as she beat her sister Venus in a Major final for the eight time in ten meetings at that stage of Grand Slam.

Serena Williams, cofounder of Will Perform, which targets physical recovery from workouts with topical pain relief, muscle and skin care products, could broaden the offerings. Serena said: “My coach said: The one who recovers the best is the one who wins.

All of us athletes put our bodies on the line every single day. It’s so important to be able to recover. In recent years, especially towards the end In my career, I’ve started to think more about recovery and also the role that has played in my career.

I want to provide things that people really need and things that I can actually use that are very authentic to me.” Williams says he came up with the idea for Will Perform in 2021 with the collaboration of Eric Ryan.

Ryan told: “The main insight is that all generations have a different relationship to health. My thesis has been that starting Millennials really do see health and wellness as a lifestyle pursuit. as an opportunity to really try and grow the creative brand that would connect to that audience.

But we have to do it in a way that doesn’t alienate men. What I love about Serena as a cofounder: She’s about winning. She’s this icon of style, beauty and grace. She and I bond over design and style. There’s just nobody else who brings those two opposing ideas together.”

Hank Mercier, CEO of Will Perform and its third co-founder, said: “I call Eric Ryan the Serena Williams of packaged goods.”

Serena Williams’ earings and titles
Not only in singles Serena Williams can boast numerous victories, but also in women’s doubles and mixed doubles, where there are 16 other Grand Slam tournaments: 14 won with her older sister Venus and two in mixed doubles, both obtained with Maks Mirny in 1998.

To these successes must be added three other gold medals at the Olympics, all won together with Venus, a Federation Cup and two Hopman Cups. Serena managed to earn 340 million dollars thanks to sponsorship contracts. Forbes last spring placed her in 31st place in the 2022 ranking of the highest paid athletes in the world.

Serena Williams is also on the Forbes ranking of the richest self-made women in the United States. In this case, she ranks ninetieth with an estimated $ 260 million in assets. The only other athlete present is Maria Sharapova, who found herself in 97th place with a fortune of forty million dollars less than her former colleague.
